
Creative Writing & Drama Chug
The Creative Writing and Drama Chug gives kids the opportunity to work on their English reading and writing skills while building self-confidence. During the 8-week program, kids will work together to come up with their own script for a unique, 5-scene play, to be performed at the end of the session.
Each of the 75-minute classes opens with a short acting or improv game and then employs various activities to look at the theme/focus of the day. The course will cater to children with various degrees of English skills.
Schedule:
1st class: Learning about 3-act structures and filling in details of short, 5-minute skits and performing it
2nd class: Learning about setting and character and deciding on the general story for the final script
3rd class: Outlining 3-act structure of the script and writing about the characters kids' choose
4th class: Writing scenes 1-3, in groups
5th class: Writing scenes 4-7, in groups
6th class: Read through and rough rehearsals of scenes
7th class: Rehearsals and costume and prop prep
8th class: Dress rehearsals & Final performance
